Good Morning!
Happy Wednesday!
It’s a cold one in NYC this week, although I’m sure many of you would argue that’s a country-wide affair. After 704 snowless days in the city, we finally saw accumulation. The cold-weather lover in me couldn’t be happier. This week, I’m taking you to a new development that was recently staged by the renowned Guillaume Coutheillas, and showcasing the Michelin Star restaurant that sits at the base.
100 E 53rd St, better known as “Selene”, is Midtown East’s answer to the modern loft-dweller that’s looking for a building with exceptional design pedigree and the most premium amenities. The project was designed by starchitects Foster + Partners, with interior collaboration with AD100 recipient William Georgis.
Perched above the hustle and bustle of the city, 36A & 36B have been curated to perfection by Guillaume Coutheillas. His design style is functional and space-driven, with a background in development that lends its hand perfectly to complex layouts.
The furniture selected in each project is from Guillaume’s personal warehouse, curated to perfection, and filled with new and vintage pieces. Asked about where he sources such unique furniture and decor, Couthellias pointed to his ethos of feeling familiar while supporting small retailers.
The powder room in 36A took my breath away. The wallpaper was sourced from a local Brooklyn company, Calico Wallpaper, which Couthellias describes as an “almost textile”. Up close and personal, I concur. The texture present throughout the larger image, when viewed in person, is unlike what I’ve seen in traditional wall coverings. I questioned whether it was painted!
The view from the primary suite in the 2-bedroom layout was spectacular. Most wouldn’t think of looking into offices as the most glamorous, but there was something quite peaceful about the room. The use of textures and color in the room created a warmth that felt starkly opposite its neighbor.
Having visited the building a few times over the years I wasn’t always thrilled with the options present. A home is what you make of it and with Guillaume’s touch, this building has transformed into an inviting space I look forward to bringing future clients to.
At the base of the building sits the Michelin-starred Le Jardinier restaurant. Helmed by Chef Alain Verzeroli and the first New York City restaurant designed by AD100 recipient Joseph Dirand, Le Jardnier is sure to impress from entry to the plate.
French for "gardener," Le Jardinier's cuisine and lush decor evoke the serenity of a modern greenhouse in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. Serving a menu of the highest quality vegetables, seasonal ingredients, sustainable food, and fresh herbs, Le Jardinier is not to be missed.
This week’s color swatch is Behr’s Eternal Elegance. The purple-hued-blue is bright and airy and on a large scale becomes a great base to compliment the furniture within a room. I’d love to see this color in a bedroom or as an accent wall in a room that could use a brighter tone.
As always, thank you SO MUCH for reading Finding Space and the invaluable feedback. Next week I’ll be releasing a podcast episode from our NextGen series and can’t wait to hear your thoughts!

Eternal Elegance - such a cool idea to match the ceiling to the walls! I thought it would make the room feel smaller, but the white ceiling trim and multidimensional color actually make the room feel larger! So excited for the podcast!!
