Finding Space
Good Morning!
Happy Wednesday!
As the week’s news has been less than favorable, I’m taking the opportunity to take us OOM and to a new destination I’ve been incredibly curious about: Mallorca.
This week, we’ll be looking at a hotel with incredible design, the restaurants within that get MAJOR attention, and a color swatch to round it all out. Let’s get into it.
Hotel Cap Rocat sits on the southern shores of Mallorca and is the epitome of good design. The exclusive, adults-only luxury hotel set in a restored 19th-century military fortress on a private peninsula in Mallorca’s Bay of Palma, blends the natural with the human.
Restored by architect Antonio Obrador, the property preserves original military features like drawbridges and bunkers while incorporating Moroccan-inspired interior design.

This isn’t a place where rooms blend into wallpaper. They feel like experiences: a terrace becomes your living room; a dip in your private pool becomes a ritual, and fortified walls become the backdrop for morning light.
The hotel is famously intimate, with the whole property sitting at around 30 rooms and suites in total. The small scale means you’re not in a big resort with the rest of the world; rather, you’re in a secluded retreat where each stay feels personal and special.

At Cap Rocat, the amenities are thoughtful, not overdone. There’s a saltwater infinity pool built into the old fortress walls, direct sea access for actual ocean swims, and a private stretch of coastline that never feels crowded.
The spa sits inside former military vaults and focuses on simple, high-quality treatments rooted in the Mediterranean. You’ll also find an open-air gym, plenty of quiet terraces, and space to fully unplug.
The hotel isn’t about excess. It’s about privacy, calm, and intention.
Cap Rocat’s rooms and grounds aren’t the only thing to marvel at because the food is just as incredible. At La Fortaleza, dinner feels cinematic, intimate, and a little dramatic. The chef, Víctor García, takes Mediterranean and Majorcan classics and presents them as tasting menus that feel thoughtful. Think pristine seafood, island produce, and vaulted stone glowing in the most beautiful light. Inside is hushed and romantic; on the rooftop, it’s sea views and candlelight. If you’re planning a trip to Mallorca, this is the finale that you talk about long after you’ve departed.

If La Fortaleza is the drama, Sea Club is the fun Mediterranean sibling. It’s open air, sun-drenched, and steps from the water. Think wood-grilled fish, vibrant salads, rice dishes, all paired with a crisp drink in hand ~ effortless and chic.
My opinion? Cap Rocat sets itself apart in the Mallorcan hotel scene. While design-forward accommodations are ever-present on the island, the design, coupled with the small number of keys and high-level of service, takes it above the rest.

This week’s color swatch of the week is directly inspired by the fortress Cap Rocat exists within and I am obsessed. Faded Terracotta from Farrow & Ball brings a sophisticated brown/orange into play that helps bring a calming energy into any space. What I love about this color is its ability to bring a hint of color in without feeling overpowering. I’d love to see this within an office or powder room.
As always, thank you SO MUCH for reading Finding Space and supporting this newsletter. While we’re always going to speak on NYC, I do like to take a moment to discuss places I’m eyeing or catch my attention as good design is everywhere and deserves to be admired! Leave a comment down below if you loved the hotel this week!
